Early on while developing the gameplay for my quirky fantasy battle card game, I thought about using the same card back for the modifier cards as the character cards have. I figured players would want to hide how many modifier cards they had in their hand.
With this game, there are 5 rounds and players will receive 2 modifier cards to use during those 5 rounds. Once used during the game, they will have no more. Does giving the modifier and character cards different backs so other players can visually see what is still a potential threat something that builds fun tension during gameplay?
I’ll be sharing my game design process, prototype updates, and devlogs right here on my blog and across my socials. If you're into indie card game design or just love following tabletop projects from concept to table, follow along on this Blog or socials!
